1991 - Jill's Mum and Dad buys The Post Office

Jill’s Mum and Dad, Malcolm and Val Patterson buy the Post Office/Newsagents/Gift Shop from Ian and Helen McGregor. Malcolm grew up on Holy Island and was a fisherman before becoming Postmaster.

2012 - Malcolm and Val Retire

Malcolm and Val retire, Jill and Michael buy the business. They renovate the building to include an upstairs Bed & Breakfast room. They add a café to the business, they name the business ‘1st Class Food’.

2016 - Jill and Michael buy Greystones

Jill and Michael buy Greystones and move the Post Office/Café business down to the new site increasing the café capacity from 15 to 150! They renovate the original building to offer an additional 3 en-suite rooms downstairs. They name the business ‘Holy Island Accommodation’.

2021 - Jill and Michael sell The Cafe/Post Office

Michael and Jill sell the Post Office/ 1st Class Food business but continue with their accommodation business ‘Holy Island Accommodation

2026 - Celebrating 35 years in business

The building and business have now been in the family for 35 years! We look forward to welcoming travellers and holiday makers who enjoy the tranquil beauty of Holy Island for many years to come.
